Joe Biden became president-elect on Saturday after winning Pennsylvania, with Sen. Kamala D. Harris set to be the highest ranking woman in the country’s political history. Biden, along with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, gave a heartfelt message during their victory speeches in Wilmington, Delaware, of peace and forgiveness, coming at a time when the nation’s divided with bitterness and unrest.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump, unsurprisingly, dedicated his Saturday to continue pressing for a legal fight, citing unfounded claims of voter fraud in response to the news of defeat, that arrived while he was golfing in Virginia.
With continued support from all corners of the globe, the President elect Joe Biden promised his emotional supporters at his campaign headquarters “to be a president who seeks not to divide, but to unify.”
“To make progress, we have to stop treating our opponents as our enemies. They are not our enemies. They are Americans,” Biden said. He also proclaimed that he wouldn’t favor the blue states over the red states and that he would instead be president for the United States of America.
“This is the time to heal in America,” he added, amid a chorus of blaring car horns and screams.
Biden vowed to “work with all my heart for the confidence of the whole people. To win the confidence of all people.”
This would come as a major reassurance to major global partners and close allies who were concerned over the recent misleading and inciting remarks by the incumbent president towards the just concluded elections. Joe Biden will now be keen to restore several key relationships jeopardized by the President Trump once he assumes office.
Consequently, Kamala Harris as the first female Vice President of the United States, has set a tone of change with her motivational remarks after the win. She said “while I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last, because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.”
After such a historic feat, celebrated by thousands of Americans from all sorts of ethnicity, only thing that’s left is to beat the baseless integrity accusations voiced by President Trump and his team in Supreme Court. All in all, millions of Americans have a reason to smile despite the ravaging pandemic that’s has taken over 2020 in a nutshell.
